Amal’s Journey

Amal fled her home country with her two young children, carrying little more than hope for a better future. When she arrived in Sacramento, she faced an overwhelming system with no clear path forward.

Through HelperHand’s Bright Futures for Refugees and Orphans program, Amal’s family received immediate assistance with food, housing, and healthcare. Her children were enrolled in school, where they quickly adapted thanks to tutoring and mentorship programs provided by volunteers. Amal joined a cultural integration workshop and eventually secured a job with the help of HelperHand’s job training resources.

“I came here with nothing, and now I feel like I belong,” Amal shared. “HelperHand gave my children a chance to dream again.”
